I’m not even going to pretend to be unbiased here — I loved this book, and I absolutely adored this entire series. Two Twisted Crowns was everything I wanted for the ending, even if it left me with that bittersweet ache because now it’s over, and I’m not ready to let go.
Rachel Gillig just has this way of building worlds that feel so real — dark and a little eerie, but not in a way that drags you down. Magical, but not over-the-top or fluffy. This one picks up right where One Dark Window left off, and honestly, it throws you right back into the mess of curses and secrets without missing a beat. The vibe? Creepy forests, magic that actually feels risky, and this steady sense of dread I weirdly loved. I devoured it.
The characters — both the ones I already loved and the new faces — were great. Their stories unfolded in a way that felt real, not forced, and the way everything tied together at the end? Super satisfying. It packed a punch, too — there were a lot of feelings in this one. Some heartbreak, some tension, a bit of hope... it all landed exactly how I wanted it to.
I wish there were more books in this series because I’m not ready to leave this world behind. 5 stars, no hesitation. If you haven’t started this series yet, I highly recommend it — especially if you love dark fairytales and stories where the line between hero and villain is blurred.
